Shubhransh Jagota holds a B.E. (Hons.) in Computer Science and an M.Sc. in Economics from
BITS Pilani. He is a polyglot who works across payments infrastructure, SDK design, AI systems
and LLM agents, machine learning and data science, and quantitative research — in Java, Python,

- [PhonePe PG SDK for Java](https://github.com/PhonePe/phonepe-pg-sdk-java): Led design and implementation of the Java SDK for PhonePe's B2B payment gateway; wrote the CI/CD pipelines and mentored SDKs for other languages. The SDK family has carried tens of crores in total payment volume (TPV).
- Natural-language browser agent (Zamp.ai, 2025–2026): Designed and built an LLM agent that autonomously performs multi-step web tasks from plain-English instructions. Also led the Actions Hub migration to a modular architecture and integrated Langfuse for LLM observability.
- Epoch framework and disaster recovery (PhonePe, 2022–2025): Owned the Epoch scheduling framework for online merchant services; implemented disaster recovery and led them end to end.

- [Disaster recovery write-up](https://fireddd.github.io/blog/disaster-recovery/): An explainer on DR drills in regulated payments — active-passive, RTO vs RPO, what fails over and how, the steps of a drill. He has taken part in several DR drills at PhonePe and led them end to end. He identified that the proposed failover path would pass the drill but not survive a full-datacentre loss, argued the correct path despite the timeline cost, and got the SOP changed. RTO cut from ~1 hour to under 7 minutes.

(1) A universal, idempotent API that made month-end accounting close a one-step operation instead of a fire drill — reconstructs and republishes any missing accounting event, safely, because the accounting side is idempotent. (2) A granular kill switch — by merchant, by API path, or both — for shedding non-critical load (status checks) at peak while leaving payment flows untouched, and for blocking abusive callers at the service instead of waiting on another team. (3) The accounting integration that taught the settlement system about a brand-new partner entity and its settlement rules, so partner-referred money settles to the merchant correctly. (4) Template management — the heart of dynamic pricing v2 — which turned manual custom-rate (MDR) merchant onboarding into self-serve configuration, onboarding 20+ partners referring 100+ merchants.

A valuation adjustment is regulatory capital a bank sets aside against its positions; the job is to hold exactly enough — too little is a regulatory breach, too much wastes capital to opportunity cost. There are different kinds (model VA, portfolio VA) that also vary by underlying product (swap, option, swaption). As a quantitative strategist on the Macro Valuation Adjustment team in the Fixed Income Division, he took 10+ adjustments off manual, error-prone footing across the FX desk in Brazil and interest-rate desks in London, Hong Kong and New York, on an in-house Scala graph-execution framework — adding input validation, a UI and automated stakeholder reporting — tightening controls and saving ~25 engineer-hours/month for the Valuation Control and Strats teams.
- [Interviewing write-up](https://fireddd.github.io/blog/interviewing/): Why taking interviews and campus hiring drives at PhonePe paid back beyond the job — he ran 50+ DSA problem-solving rounds and 10+ machine-coding rounds and shadowed 10+ design rounds (cleared to run it solo but shadowed seniors first to learn it), at campuses including IIT Kharagpur, IIIT Hyderabad, PEC Chandigarh, NIT Surathkal, MNNIT Allahabad and SPIT Mumbai, with online rounds for others like Cummins College. His golden rule for judging an answer: if you cannot refute a candidate's approach, you have to accept it — which forced the prep pace (15-20 above-average problems worked through in a single day — weeks of self-study compressed — and nights up till 2-3am formulating every approach a candidate might bring). The dividends: a cross-team network that unblocks you, the unwritten word-of-mouth read on what other teams are really like to work on, and broad exposure to the company beyond his own service.

- Terminal One — MIT vs Harvard (2020) — Runner-up. Run by Citadel and Correlation One, across a field of more than 30,000 engineers and data scientists. Represented MIT against Harvard as a two-person team with Akash Vaish (https://www.linkedin.com/in/akash-vaish-712872aa/), on Citadel's Terminal (https://terminal.c1games.com/), where you write an algorithm that plays a tower-defense game against other algorithms.
